The Fourth Degree Assembly is named for Fr. George P. Boehmicke. He was born April 4, 1910. After graduation from grade school he started his studies for the priesthood at St. Meinrad College in Indiana. He was ordained a priest on December 8, 1935, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, and he had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. During his many years of serving his Lord and Master and the Diocese of Owensboro, he served in many capacities. In 1943 he was made pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish. He served as its pastor until 1956. During his tenure here, he started Sts. Peter & Paul School in 1947 in an old residence. In 1952 the present school building was built. In 1966 he became chaplain of the Fr. Connor Council in Sorgho. He became the Faithful Friar of the St. Vincent Assembly in Henderson KY in 1979. He served in that office until his passing. Fr. Boehmicke, a priest for over sixty years, was a holy and dedicated servant of God and a staunch supporter of the Knights of Columbus. At the age of 86 he returned to the Father with Christ on November 6, 1996. Because of his support of the Knights of Columbus and his service of 13 years at Sts. Peter & Paul Parish we felt it was most appropriate that we name our assembly in his honor.
Assembly History
The Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus chartered the Fr. Boehmicke Assembly on July 1, 2002. It started with 31 Sir Knights from the following councils; Msgr. Peter & Paul Parish Center. There were 47 Third Degree members that advanced on to the Fourth Degree.
Assembly Meetings
The assembly meets on the second Sunday of every month at 6:00 PM. The meeting place is on a rotating schedule of the following locations: Christ the King Parish in Madisonville, St. Michaels Parish in Oak Grove and Sts. Peter & Paul Parish in Hopkinsville. The meeting starts with a potluck meal. The members of the host parish prepare the meat and drink. The members or their wife prepare a covered dish for the meal. After the meal, we have our business meeting. The cost for the meal is $5.00 for a couple or $3.00 for a single person. Once in a while we have a free meal. Every month there is a newsletter or a postcard notifying members of the location of the next meeting and any other matters that may be on the agenda for that meeting.
